Fall gives way to creative landscaping!
Halloween has come and gone, and now I’d say Fall is here and Summer is officially over. I miss Summer already, but Fall is an exciting season. We have football, Halloween – and my favorite holiday, Thanksgiving.
Fall is also a fun time for yard decorations, and the best part is, it doesn’t have to cost you an arm and a leg. A trip to the local hardware store and/or hobby store, will net you enough goods to accent your outdoor living spaces with the right Fall flavors.
Fall is full of tradition
Fall is harvest time – scarecrows, hay bales, pumpkins, dried cornstalks are just a few items associated with the season and very easy to find.
Attach the dried corn stalks to pillars, lamp posts and mailboxes. Arrange a few hay bales with baskets of pumpkins and other gourds on your yard, and post a scarecrow to guard them. If hay bales in your outdoor living spaces seems to be too much, simply place baskets of gourds on your porch – or ditch the baskets all together. Your home exterior now the picture of fall.
Light my fire
Dusk comes earlier, and fall brings cooler temperatures. Warm up your landscape with mason jars and candles. Change out your walkway lamps with open, wide-mouthed jars filled with smooth stones and tea lights. Line the walk to your front door or garden with these same lights, and add a few to your porch or patio. This inexpensive lighting technique will add intrigue and warmth to your outdoor living spaces.
